Bichir Saddled

The Saddled Bichir (Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri), also known as the Saddled Bichir or Endlicheri Bichir, is a large and impressive species with a heavyset body and bold dark saddle-like markings across a pale background. Its prehistoric appearance, armored scales, and multiple dorsal finlets make it a striking centerpiece for large aquariums. A bottom-dwelling predator, it is hardy and long-lived, best suited to experienced aquarists with spacious tanks and robust tankmates.
