Threadfin Rainbowfish

A beautiful and uncommon discus companion fish which withstands high temperatures (from 22 °C to 32 °C) and can tolerate a wide pH range (5.2 to 7.6). Reaches 3 cm to 4 cm in size and prefers a calm planted aquarium. 

The Threadfin Rainbowfish will not show its attractive coloration when frightened (hiding) or kept with other pushy species. All our stocks are delivered young, juveniles have shorter fins and will appear silver white when first introduced to their new environment, with proper feeding and after a period of time settling the males will begin to display their longer fins and show their attractive courting colors - therefore a group of 6 or more is recommended for a mixture of males and females.

Discus.ae prefers younger stock for their better ability to adapt to new water parameters and higher tolerance against transport. On rare occasions you may receive larger specimens when small fish are unavailable, however the smallest should be expected unless the size is noted as "Large" or "Adult".
