Spiny Eel

The Spiny Eel is a peaceful freshwater fish that can grow to a length of 20 cm, it prefers to dig into the bottom substrate where it enjoys hiding during the day and becomes more active in the evening. They are not recommended to be kept with shrimps or nano fish species which can be mistaken for food, however they can safely live with larger tetras (example: Serpae), gouramis, and other medium and larger tank mates.

The Spiny Eel is a social fish that prefers to be in a group of 5 or more when space is available, they require large sinking pellets and nutritious frozen food (recommended: STENDKER Tropical Fish Food). They prefer shaded areas with spaces to hide and a covered aquarium might be required against them jumping or escaping which can accidentally happen on rare occasions.
