Leporinus Strawberry

The  Leporinus sp. Strawberry, is a very rare and beautiful variation of the closely related Leporinus granti. This exciting and beautiful fish has only been introduced to the hobby recently, and we're pleased to have it available for our Discus.ae customers.

This robust fish is best suited for aquariums with more space due to its ability of growing up to a maximum size of 15-20 cm, although most tend to stay smaller around 12 cm.  Keeping a lid might also be necessary as this fish, like most similar species, has the ability to jump when startled.

Feeding the Leporinus sp. Strawberry is easy, it accepts a wide variety of food and becomes very excited when offered vegetables. It is also normal for this fish to challenge others of its own kind when setting their pecking order, however they do not bother other tank mates and can co exist with smaller fish such as tetras and other safe larger fish peacefully.

We recommend keeping the Leporinus sp. Strawberry as a trio or more, contact us for more details.

Fish Size Guide:

The 'Maximum Size' outlined below is the length this fish can reach as a full grown adult. For the actual size please use the select menu above.

Discus.ae prefers younger stock for their better ability to adapt to new water parameters and higher tolerance against transport. On rare occasions you may receive larger specimens when small fish are unavailable, however the smallest should be expected unless the size is noted as "Large" or "Adult".
