Honey Gourami

Important Notice: This is a parasite-free farm bred Honey Gourami and not a wild caught fish (actual photograph of the mature adult parent which is not for sale is shown in the second image with a measuring ruler for reference).

This smaller gourami strain has the ability to transform and change its color from yellow to red to golden based on its mood and males may display darker patches for short periods. Their coloration depends entirely on their environment and changes based on their reactions, it is not possible for us to predict how they will display in your aquarium and we cannot select a specific gender. All live stocks cannot be returned and we recommend to check the images on this page to see the different colors of this species and research this lovely fish before adding it to your collection.

The Honey Gourami, often wrongly confused with the Dwarf and Thicklip Gourami which are different species, is an attractive dwarf variety which remains very small allowing it to be suitable for most aquarium sizes and a peaceful choice for community tropical fish tanks which houses other similar tank mates. Its color changes based on its environment and males can develop a different color during their mating period.

Feeding the Honey Gourami is easy, we highly recommend one of our color boosting diets to help it exhibit its best coloration, you may find a wide selection of options in our food section to choose from.

The Honey Gourami prefers calmer water flow and does best in planted environments which allows it plenty of hiding spots to explore.

The 'Maximum Size' outlined below is the length this fish can reach as a full grown adult. For the actual size please use the select menu above.
