Blue Neon Goby

The Blue Neon Goby, Stiphodon atropurpureus, is a small nano bottom feeder that feeds on algae which is highly attractive due to both its interesting color that changes based on the environment from pale grey to electric blue/green and its behavior pattern which makes it a highly sought after fish among hobbyists.

Due to its very small size, these gobies are best kept in nano aquariums with other peaceful species and shrimps. Males often can display aggression towards each other, hiding spaces are required for an ideal environment.

Note: Choosing the gender of this variety is not available and must expect to receive either males or females based on availability, our animals are sometimes kept in high density stock tanks where gender visibility is not clear or the animals are too young to show it. Blue Neon Goby also display their coloration only when it is adapted and comfortable in its new home. If the animal is stressed by the environment conditions or intimidated by companion fish which are large or over-active then it will remain gray instead. Discus.ae prefers younger stock for their better ability to adapt to new water parameters and higher tolerance against transport. On rare occasions you may receive larger specimens when small fish are unavailable, however the smallest should be expected unless the size is noted as "Large" or "Adult".
