Hygrophila odora is a decorative plant that originates from Africa which develops light green leaves and relatively hard, thick stems. In well-developed plants, the leaves form a similar to those of Hygrophila difformis and H. Pinnatifida except they are narrower and a different color.

With supply of CO2, sufficient lighting, and liquid nutrition this plant can grow moderately fast depending on conditions. Hygrophila odora also has good tolerance for higher temperatures, a good candidate for warmer tanks.
